Is CBD Legal in Denmark?
Yes - CBD is legal in Denmark. The Danish government allows for the import of CBD products as long as they contain less than 0.3% THC for private persons. THC is the compound in cannabis that gets you high, so products with low THC levels are considered to be safe and legal for sale. This means that you can find a variety of CBD products for sale online in Denmark, including oils, capsules and topicals.
However, it's important to note that CBD products are still subject to certain regulations and a lot of the products are registered as cosmetics or aroma oils. The Danish government states that CBD that lead to absorption and subsequent effect of CBD may be considered medicinal products depending on the circumstances. If a product is also intended for medicinal purposes in the prevention or treatment of disease, it may likewise fall within the scope of the medicinal products legislation, which is why many products are not advertised with guidelines of intake.
So, there you have it - CBD is possible to buy in Denmark, but as with any products, it's important to be buying from a trustworthy source, in particular due to many suppliers categorise their products as cosmetics which means less control of the products than food supplements require.
At Raw Organics all our products are tested by Fundacíon Canná in Madrid, which is a leading goverment supported laboratory with state of art technology.

May I take CBD oil and drive in Denmark?
Yes, you may take CBD oil and drive if your CBD oil, like all those you can buy from Raw Organics, has a THC level of no more than 0.3%.
Most things evolve over time - including traffic laws. Therefore, today it is legal to combine CBD oil and driving. This was not previously the case when there was zero tolerance for combining cannabis oil and driving in Denmark.
Cannabis oil with low amount of THC (maximum 0.2% THC) and driving became legal in Denmark in 2018, when a new traffic law was introduced that made it possible for Danish drivers to purchase cbd oils and drive without fearing fines, license points, or losing their driving license altogether.
The old law had zero tolerance for THC.
Previously, the use of the cannabis plant or oil and driving was absolutely not a legal match in Denmark. The old traffic law was quite strict and tough in that regard, as it had a zero tolerance for tetrahydrocannabinol, popularly known as THC, which is the chemical compound in cannabis plants that has psychoactive properties.
The zero tolerance was introduced back in 2011, which meant that the Danish police were equipped with a hash-o-meter, which was the cannabis equivalent of the well-known alcohol meter, where you have to blow into the meter, after which your alcohol level is measured.
If you were tested positive for traces of THC in your blood, you could expect to lose your driver's license for up to three years. This zero tolerance made it impossible to combine full spectrum CBD oil and driving in Denmark from 2011 until 2018 without being at risk of losing your driving license.
New law, new limit
As previously mentioned, laws regarding the use of CBD oil and driving in Denmark have evolved over time. After two years of research, a new traffic law was introduced in 2018, which abolished the total ban on using cannabis oil while driving.
Since July 1, 2018, the traffic law allows you to drive and use cannabis oil if your THC level is below 0.3%. This low limit means that you can now take CBD oil and drive without fear of losing your driver's license.
However, the low THC limit means that only CBD oil is acceptable and not, for example, smoking hashish (joints, etc.).
The reason for the 0.2% THC limit is that at this low THC level, there is no mental impairment caused by THC.
It's worth noting that when it comes to THC content in your blood, we're talking about milligrams. Practically speaking, this means that you must have less than 0.001 milligrams of THC in your blood.
If you have between 0.001 and 0.003 milligrams of THC in your blood, it will result in a penalty point on your driver's license. If you compare this to alcohol, this amount is equivalent to a blood alcohol level of between 0.21 and 0.50. If the amount of THC in your blood rises to between 0.003 and 0.009 milligrams, you will be punished with a conditional revocation of your driver's license (you risk losing your driver's license) and a fine.
An unconditional revocation of your driver's license comes at 0.009 milligrams of THC in your blood. At this level, you are driving with a blood alcohol level of over 1.2 - which means that your ability to move, concentrate, and speak is impaired.
Medical cannabis regulation
You might be wondering about medical cannabis in Denmark, which is cannabis containing THC. There's actually a trial program that started back in 2018 and runs until 2025. It's meant to give patients a legal option to try out medical cannabis as a treatment if other approved medications haven't worked for them. The program focuses on specific conditions, like painful spasms from multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury, nausea from chemotherapy, and neuropathic pain from diseases of the brain, spinal cord, or nerves.
The various cannabis products made available in the program are determined by cannabis manufacturers who apply to have their products included. It's important to note that the products aren't approved medications and haven't been tested in clinical trials. That means doctors are responsible for prescribing and dosing the products without standardized information about their effects or side effects.
The Danish Medicines Agency has a guide for doctors considering medical cannabis, based on research into cannabis programs elsewhere and scientific evidence. It's important to know that medical cannabis is only considered relevant for specific indications with some evidence of effectiveness.
Medical cannabis isn't recommended for children or young people under 18 due to unknown long-term effects on the developing brain.
If you're considering using medical cannabis, talk to your doctor and approach treatment with caution. While the trial program provides a legal option, make sure you're working with a knowledgeable healthcare provider. A clinic that specializes in medicinal cannabis in Denmark is Canify.
